As a squas5 pro I often called upon to give an advice on squash equipment. Here are answers on FAQ's. Do not see an answer here? Feel free to Send your question to us ! We will do our best to answer all your squash related questions.

Q. WHAT IS THE RIGHT STRING TENSION?
A. For softball squas5 it is approximately 20-26 lbs. Hard hitters should string their rackets in the upper range, if you do not hit the ball very hard I recommend stringing your racquet at the lower range.

Q. WHAT IS THE BEST TYPE OF STRING TO USE?
A. I highly recommend good multifilament string like Ashaway  or Technifibre. The right strings and the right string tension should improve your performance on the court.

Q. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN RACQUET COMPOSITION?
A. Most racquets now are made of high quality graphite with a small percentage of Kevlar, or Boron, or Titanium. What ever the advantage of one over the other is debatable, but one thing is for certain – racquets today are stiffer, lighter, and stronger, and more powerful than ever before. If your racquet is over a couple of years old.....try a new one ! You will be surprised at the changes.

Q. IF I AM STARTING OUT IN SQUASH WHAT RACQUET SHOULD I GET?
A. WE recommend buying the most you can afford in a high quality racquet with a replacement provision. The most favorable in this area is Black Knight and UnSquashable. Since there is more direct contact with the floor and the walls for beginner and intermediate player, the replacement factor will allow you to enjoy your racquet longer.

Check out these racquets:
- SquashPlus Dragon II Ti  - Unconditional replacement guarantee
- UnSquashable - 120 day limited replacement

Q. WHAT TYPE OF SQUASH BALL SHOULD I GET?
A. Get a double yellow dot tournament squas5 ball, it is a standard squash ball for normal play conditions. There are currently squash balls made that bounce faster than the standard yellow dot, but they should only be used in very cold conditions, or in working with beginner players who have trouble hitting the ball.

Q. DO I NEED TO USE  EYE PROTECTION?
A. YES! Playing squas5 without goggles is like riding your bike without the helmet – why take a chance? Eye protection is now required in most tournaments, and I highly recommend it.

Q. DO SQUASH RACQUETS COME IN A DIFFERENT GRIP SIZE?
A. No, but the shape of the grip varies among manufacturers. If you need a bigger grip on your racquet just add an extra over grip or replacement grip.

Q. ARE THERE SPECIAL TYPES OF SHOES FOR SQUASH?
A. Yes. Here are some points about squas5 shoes: they should fit snug, but they should not hurt your foot. If they do, try another size, brand or model, until you find the right one. Once you find them, buy 2-3 pairs, manufacturers come up with new models all the time, so you do not have to go through the trial and error again.
